ECG response to the consultation on the revision of EU Taxonomy technical screening criteria

The ECG welcomes the European Commission’s objective to simplify and revise the EU Taxonomy technical screening criteria. In support of this objective, the ECG has responded to the European Commission's public consultation on the topic.

Drawing on practical experience, we highlight four core messages: the importance of robust and transparent due process when revising the EU taxonomy framework; greater legal certainty by embedding key clarifications into the binding framework rather than relying on nonbinding FAQs; adequate implementation time, recommending mandatory application from 2028; and the opportunity to further simplify the framework in the upcoming revision of the Taxonomy Disclosure Delegated Act.
